Mr. Vijay Shetty is a proud and precious jewel of Maharashtra in
general and Pune Bunts in particular, is a very gifted sportsman,
who has excelled in Cricket — which has been like a Religion to
Indians. His immense contribution for Maharashtra Cricket is a
known fact. This is the reason Shri Sharad Pawar,
PRESIDENT OF B.C.C.I and Union Agriculture Minister conferred
on him “Lifetime Achievement Award” for his
contribution to the cause of Indian Cricket in General
and Maharashtra Cricket in particular. Hats off to a unique personality who has made us
proud and enhanced the image of Pune Bunts. Mr. Vijay Shetty played Ranji Trophy for
Maharashtra from 1973 to 1983. In his career, he played over 50 First Class Matches. He was also
Captain of Maharashtra Ranji Team for two seasons. He had played against MCC representing
West Zone. Mr. Vijay Shetty played against West Indies representing combined university and
played against Srilanka also.
Mr. Vijay Shetty has the distinction of representing west zone in Duleep as well as Deodhar
Trophy and Rest of India in the Irani Trophy.
